چکیده

This paper presents measured statistical distributions of incident waves to a mobile antenna in urban microcellular and indoor environments at 2.15 GHz. The power spectra of azimuth angle, elevation angle, and Doppler frequency are presented for horizontally and vertically polarized waves separately. The measurement campaign has been performed using a spherical dual-polarized antenna array and a wideband radio channel sounder with 30 MHz chip frequency. ANGULAR SIGNAL DISTRIBUTION AND CROSS-POLARIZATION POWER RATIO SEEN BY A MOBILE RECEIVER AT 2.15 GHz

In mobile radio reception, signals typically arrive at the receiver antenna from a wide range of directions due to multipath propagation. This can be described by a direction-of-arrival (DoA) distribution of the propagation environment. If the DoA distribution is known, the Doppler spectrum and the autocorrelation function can be directly computed [1]. Furthermore, handset antenna performance c...

Computational electromagnetic simulation of smart antenna systems in urban microcellular environments

This paper presents computational electromagnetics (CEM)-based characterization of smart antenna-system performance in urban microcellular environments. Mutual coupling effects between antenna-array elements are modeled using the method of moments (MoM) and the mobile environment is modeled using electromagnetic ray tracing (ERT). The smart antenna systems simulated in several urban microcells ...

Angular power distribution and mean effective gain of mobile antenna in different propagation environments

Abstract − We measured the elevation angle distribution and cross-polarization power ratio of the incident power at the mobile station in different radio propagation environments at 2.15 GHz frequency. A novel measurement technique was utilized, based on a wideband channel sounder and a spherical dualpolarized antenna array at the receiver. Data was collected along over 9 km of continuous measu...

Comparison of MIMO antenna configurations in picocell and microcell environments

This paper presents the results achieved with a dualpolarized multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) measurement system in the 2 GHz range. Results from continuous measurement routes were used in evaluating and comparing different MIMO antenna configurations. Different pattern and polarization diversity possibilities were studied using two methods: elements were selected from the antenna arrays ...

Modeling and Prediction of the Wireless Vector Channel Encountered by Smart Antenna Systems

A Kalman-filter based, vector autoregressive (VAR) model is used to forecast mobile user uplink spatial signatures and improve downlink signal-to-interference ratio in timedivision duplex (TDD) systems. Results are presented from computational electromagnetic (CEM) simulations of a smart antenna system operating at 1.8 GHz in an urban microcellular environment.
